A Star Panel with my Daisy Fabrics

All my daisy fabrics... how do you choose?

Maybe blue?

Yes to yellow!

More yellow.

And I love the blue fabric too!

Peel off the heat and bond paper.

Press/ iron the panel unto white fabric. I adhered it to white fabric as I changed my mind on chopping up the star. I was going to chop and scatter on fabric and press them in place and then quilt.  Going in another direction means I need a backing on the panel.

Where should I cut?

I think right in the center --- I can cut four sections there.

I started cutting, but I did not cut each piece exactly the same, but kind of close to the same section for each one.

Where should I cut the next pieces?

I cut the pieces right into the border.

I think I can get a small piece from the last sections.

Now I have 16 blocks. I love the blocks with the yellow fabrics!

I randomly stitched yellow fabric strips on all four sides of each block.
The strips were all 1 1/4 inch.

I put the quilt blocks together like I constructed my Denim Quilt Block, but for this quilt I used strips all the same size. The PDF Downloadable Pattern for the Denim Quilt Block is only $1.00 at Craftsy.com
Here is the direct link: Click Here.

I had to add more strips to the smaller blocks on the corners.

I like it, but I had laid it out on the blue fabric and then another idea came to me.

I should add blue border strips!

So I did! I like it!

It is ready to quilt.

I selected to quilt it somewhat traditionally with a small meandering and lazy daisies.  It's my favorite quilting next to thread painting.

I embroidery stitched a blue floral print on for the binding.

I placed it on my dining room table with some of my blue dishes and glasses.

I flipped it over so you can see the backside.

And the corner where I stitched my name and you can see the embroidery stitched binding, up close.

My Star Daisy Quilt is ready for my table and ready to link up for the Off Season Project Quilting June Challenge. Click Here for the link to that post where all the quilt projects are linked up there.

Enjoy!

Getting Up Close with My Quilting --- Texture Quilting

First I selected all the thread colors.

Texture Quilting was the perfect choice for the quilting.

Tiny Bubble Quilting in the light sections.

Wiggle Line Quilting outlining the Tiara Points of the Wedding Rings.

And Meandering ZigZags in the colored sections.

A full view of the Wedding Ring Quilt displayed on a queen size bed.  My customer is going to hang it on the wall.

She selected a great backing fabric for this quilt.  I love the texture of the batik fabric.

At another angle so you can see the quilting on the back of the quilt.

I opened the curtains to the let the sun shine in on the quilt, so you can see the quilting a little better.

She said the name was Tiara Wedding Ring.

Enjoy!

Star Block Progress, Daisies, and "Creative ADHD"!

I worked on my star block transformation for a few minutes this week. I have lots of ideas, but I just can't cut it yet. Thanks for your input of ideas!
Still brainstorming.
I found myself playing with daisies and food coloring during my free time this week. I find sometimes shifting to another fun thing helps me create --- I call it "Creative ADHD"! Do you do that too?

The daisies are starting to bloom in Wisconsin.  Our driveway is lined with them.  Usually by July 4th they are in full bloom! We love them!

I added blue food coloring to the water.

OK... back to my Star Block that I want to transform from traditional to modern. It's the Panel Challenge for Project Quilting Off Season.  I had a month to create.... now I have less than a week.

Borders:
I like this fabric for a border.

But I like the idea of adding a batik fabric too!

I trimmed away the fringes and I still had a little of the border left.

I added the batik first then the floral print.  I like it.

It looks great with the vase of daisies. I still can't decide how to cut it.  ???

Cool!  24 hours later my daisies are starting to turn blue.

48 hours later.

I picked some more daisies.  I tried yellow food coloring.

Less than 6 hours they started to turn yellow!

24 hours later and they are bright yellow!  I added some more daisies!

Love how they look together!

Ok... back to the Star Block Transformation:
I added heat and bond lite to the back side of the star block.  The heat and bond was not wide enough, so I cut some strips and added those to the sides.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas for chopping it up!  I still am not sure what I want to do...

More brainstorming!  My best ideas come to me when I am playing, so the daisies in food coloring will help me.

I need to have an idea in the next couple days, as I need to cut and press and quilt and then bind all before Monday June 30th and post it.  This needs to happen during my free time -- Yikes -- it's a busy quilting week!

It is not that I don't have an idea --- I have lots of them, but which one will be the best?  I am looking for the most eye pleasing to me and I want to transform it to a modern look.

As I finished and as I proofread this post, I came up with another idea!  Something I had not thought of before, as my brainstorming was kind of scattered. It helps to make these posts and to be able to visualize the process. I think my "Creative ADHD" is going in the best direction, (this time).

Idea:  Maybe I need to add daisy fabric!  I will get some out and take some photos.

Thanks for following along!
