Greens? Not Blue!


This week's challenge was to be inspired by Annie Young and her beautiful art work.  It is very obvious that she loves what she does.
  
My creation for this week needs to be something I love:

I love to make free form quilts.

I love to work with blue fabrics, but I decided to work with a color that challenges me - greens.  I do not like the color green and I have a hard time matching greens.

I chose six green fabrics.

 
I cut the fabric into strips of various widths from 2 inches to 5 inches.


I trimmed them to the same lengths.

Stitch them all together and ironed/pressed.


Trimmed the edges.


Rotary cut into 5 strips of various widths again.

Flipped them around.

and stagger them and then stitched them back together.

Ironed/pressed again.


Chose a quilting thread that looks good on the quilt top and on the backing fabric (tea dye muslin).

It is ready to quilt.

I was going to do thread painting, but I changed my mind.
I decided to quilt it with my favorite quilting.  I'll share that tomorrow.

    I love what you've created with just a few simple cuts. Very pleasing to me as I really like greens.

    Thanks for sharing your distaste for green. I have a problem with purple. You have given me hope! This looks great and I am looking forward to seeing the quilting!
