Up Close with My Quilting --- Marcia's Celebration Quilt

I am entering my Celebration Quilt in Amy's Creative Side Blogger's Quilt Festival under the category of Professionally Quilted Quilt.

Every year my Mom and I make a donation quilt together.

The last couple of years we made quilts using the Courthouse Round Pattern (Link to Free Pattern).
Those quilts were in blues one year and greens the next year.

This year we decided to step outside my comfort zone of "blues" and make a black and white and red quilt.

Mom always buys the fabric and then we usually make it together, but I made it at the Quilt's By Barb's Quilt Retreat last November and I worked on it again at a February Quilt Retreat and at an April Quilt Retreat in Iowa. Finally, I quilted it this September. I never seem to fit my own quilts into my quilting schedule. Also, it was a busy year for me.  I became a "Grandmama" and traveled to the Netherlands to see my new Grandson.

I posted about working on the quilt in February.  Click here for that post and finally finished putting the quilt together at an April Quilt Retreat.  Click here for that post.

I quilted it with a large Paisley Swirl Quilting using a black quilting thread.

Yes, I quilted this all free motion. That is what "Free Style Quilting" is.  I manually move the quilting machine to create free motion designs.

I really like how the black thread "pops" on the red backing fabric.

I stood on a step stool to get up higher to take this shot.

In November, I am off to another Quilts by Barb's Quilt Retreat.  Barb has been hosting quilt retreats for 11 years.  I have attended every year.  When she offered the Quilt Retreats two weekends in a row, I attended both weekends, because I invited my friends to join me!

This year we are making the "Squarey Quilt".  I have selected "blues" for this year.

Hop over to Amy's Creative Side Blogger's Quilt Festival and Check out all the beautiful quilts!

Enjoy!

The Celebration Quilt --- Quilts by Barb --- Quilt Retreat

This morning, I shared Candy's Celebration Quilt.

Yesterday I shared Linda's Celebration Quilt.

The day before I shared Debbie's Celebration Quilt.

The day before that I shared Thankful's Celebration Quilt.

Up Close with My Quilting --- Candy's Celebration Quilt

Candy's Celebration Quilt was made with all batik fabrics.

She also selected Overall Feathering.

The quilting thread color is Sea Crystal.

Stitched Candy's name in the corner also.

I tried to take the photos at different angles for you.

Another Sneak Peek. I will share this one later today. I will also be sharing my Celebration Quilt in the Blogger's Quilt Show.

Enjoy!

Quilt Photos in the Snow

I made this quilted wall hanging for my brother last year.  It was a Project Quilting Challenge in 2012.

It was January and the snow had a perfect crust on it. Perfect to lay a quilt on top of it.

I took a few photos from different angles.

The wind picked up and it caught the edge of the quilt.

It rolled across the snow.

It landed face down in the snow.

Cool -- the crusty snow made a great back drop for the quilt.

A few photos up close of the quilting and the stitched words.

And a couple photos of the back side of the quilt.

I know that I will take more photos of quilts in the snow.

It was the perfect day for the lighting as it was afternoon and it was shining right across the quilt.

I really have a lot of fun quilting and taking photos to share with you!

Hop over to Amy's Creative Side Blogger's Quilt Festival and see all the beautiful quilts.

Enjoy!
