Connectivity

What does a piece of wire, a wire stripper, and electrical tape have in common with a quilt?

A single stand of wire stands alone as one single piece, a wire stripper opens up the ends to prepare it to connect, and the electrical tape holds all the wires together.

A quilter sews alone til she finds a community of quilters who are brought together through their love of quilting.

Connectivity is the name of my quilt!
Getting you up close with the stitches. Made all the photos X Large this time so you can see the details! I love thread painting on raw edge applique' !
Back side of the quilt and hanging sleeve.
Gabby connects with my quilts too... I really think it is that she just wants to have her picture taken.  She jumps right up on the sofa when I am taking pictures!  My husband thinks I make her do it - NOPE !
Signed my quilt with my name!

Something from the Hardware Store! Do you know what it is now?

Peel off the paper on the Heat and Bond and on the fabric strips.  Then lay them out how you would like them and press with an iron. Then start stitching.  I like to use thread that is not the exact same color but a little darker or a little lighter.  Start to stitch with the thread like you are painting with brush strokes.

Back of the quilt!
Fresh off the quilting machine. Ready to trim the edges.
Choose the binding -  I think orange is best.  I will bind it on Friday morning, take more pictures, write the description for the posting and then upload my entry to the my Flicker site and Project Quilting Flicker site.

From a Hardware Store - Work in Progress - Project Quilting - Challenge 4

Work in Progress:   Choose fabric colors for my Hardware themed project inspired by three Hardware items. I chose long strips of fabric in bright colors to create my quilt.

Adhere Heat and bond light with a hot iron to the back sides of the fabric pieces.

Draw long curvy lines on the paper side of the heat and bond and with a sharp scissors cut the curvy strips....
Looks like worms? wires? cables? rope?  Can't tell you yet as it is WIP Work in Progress... Next blog - tomorrow.

Valentine's Day Breakfast - Looks like a QUILT to me !

Love the colors.  They would make a great quilt!

Thanks to Gwen and Jerry I had a colorful breakfast with the Valentine's candies, my oatmeal and fresh strawberries. The blue candy is chocolate covered blueberries combined with chocolate covered pecans and I added chocolate covered raisins and strawberries!  Oh and a little coffee to get me started on this bright and sunny Monday morning!

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Note:  I did not eat Ritch's candy.  Although it was tempting!

My Little Sweetheart Box

Challenge 3 for Project Quilting
Marcia Wachuta - Marcia's Crafty Sewing & Quilting www.craftysewing.com
Boscobel, Wisconsin

Measures 5 1/2 inches across by 5 1/2 inches deep.

I designed the crazee patch paper pieced heart for a heart quilt we made for a Breast Cancer fundraiser a couple years ago. When you said Valentine - that was it! I had to use my paper pieced heart! I started combining blues and greens and then added the oranges and printed butterfly fabric. I decided I wanted to make a 3 D quilted box .

I took pictures of the whole process. See my blog posts at www.craftysewing.com
My little Sweetheart Box can be used as a catch all for just about anything from a plant to sewing supplies to a Kleenex box.

What a fun challenge!

Vote starting Sunday Feb 13th at Project Quilting.

My Little Sweetheart Box

Gabby it is not for you!
You are a sweetheart.
I know you love to have your picture taken.
It seems you like to poise for the camera too, but get your little nose out of there!

There are many uses for the little sweetheart box.  Scroll down to see some of them and another picture of Gabby poising with the little sweetheart box.

Quilting and Assembly of the ....my little Sweetheart Box

Assemble/sew 4 crazee patch hearts and a solid square and a striped square like the picture. Note that the points of the hearts are pointed towards the solid square. The striped square is attached to the orange square too and then the last heart is pointing away from the orange. It will all make sense as you follow along with the photos.

Then to the quilting machine. I quilted each heart with a different freestyle pattern. On the orange I quilted hearts and one flower and wavy lines on the striped fabric.
Photos of the quilting up close. I just had fun with it. I "Wachuta Doodled" on each block!
Follow along as the photos show you how I trimmed after quilting and then zig zag stitched the edges and assembled/stitched the my little sweetheart box.

More pictures on the next post of the finished little Sweetheart Box.
