Quilt Block Four of the Vacation Time Quilt by Pat Sloan

Block Four is named Penny Arcade.

I am making both of my quilts scrappy and I am really having fun pulling from my fabric stash.

The first one with blue tiny prints and blue batiks with light tiny prints for the background fabric.

This background for my blue quilt is different than the other three, I have used for Block 1-3, but it will work!

I love the blue tiny prints with the batik fabrics!

I used some of my dishes fabrics on this block. I did not fussy cut it, as I like the look of it, off centered.

My second quilt is made with blues, purples, and greenish blues, prints and batiks, with a soft dyed background. I found another background fabric. The one on the far left.  It is lighter, but I think it will fit in perfectly.

When I made quilt block one, I loved it so much that I grabbed some fabrics from my stash and made another quilt block. Then I added the block to the left of quilt block one with all the rest of the scraps, cut into tiny squares.  At this point, I wasn't making a second quilt.  I was thinking it might be a table topper or quilt it and make a bag, but now I am making two quilts!

I am really glad that I am making 2 sets of quilt blocks!

Thanks again, Pat Sloan for such a cool mystery quilt - Vacation Time Quilt.  I LOVE all the quilt blocks!

Color Crayons on My Eggs!

The Clumsy Crafter shared a craft idea for melting crayon shavings onto your eggs. Looked like dyed fabric to me! I wanted to try it. Thanks Clumsy Crafter for sharing it!

First, let me say, I made a few mistakes, but they are very pretty anyway.

Hop over and read how to make Melted Crayon Easter Eggs from the Clumsy Crafter.

When I went to the drawer to get the grater, I saw the fruit zester.  That was my first mistake -- the chips were too fine and I piled too many on top of the eggs.

My second mistake was I cooled off the temperature in the room, because I was hot, (remember I am a Grandmama!) Well... it cooled the eggs too fast.

My third mistake --- I touched them and then I used a toothpick and a paper towel to spread the wax on the eggs and rub off the clumps.

Anyway, here are my colorful eggs --- Of course I took tons of photos.

I really enjoyed making the eggs and taking all the photos of all the colors!

This was definitely a Minutes for Me activity!

Hop over to see how to make them at the Clumsy Crafter.

I hope you enjoyed it too!

Happy Easter!

Sunday Scraps - 2 Inch Scraps!

Do you ever just want to sew something, but you want it to be really easy to sew?  I like to sew on Sunday afternoons - just for fun!

When I made my String Bean Quilt  (Pat Sloan's Quilt Pattern) I had scraps and extra leftover fabric. I cut all my scraps into 2 inch squares.  There were some charms left and there were a couple pieces of bright fabrics that I did not use in the String Bean Quilt that I had pulled out to use. Because it coordinated so well, I cut it into 2 inch squares too!

I started sewing the squares together, while I was sewing my I Spy Quilt (I haven't shared that here yet), I used them as leaders and enders, when chain piecing (sewing).

Then last week Sunday, I sewed for a couple hours and stitched tons of 4 patches.

Next I stitched them into a row of four 4 patches - that's 8 squares across and 2 down.

I made a fruit snack in the middle of the day.  It looked like my String Bean Quilt.

Of course, food arranged on a plate --- Looks like a quilt to me!

Today for Sunday Sewing, I made more progress. I stitched together the rows to make ten 64 patch quilt blocks. I had no idea how many squares I had. I just kept sewing...

I received a rose on Friday. I placed it on my table, so I could enjoy it while I was sewing.

I displayed them on a white sheet.  That's my design wall.

I kind of like it this layout.
Maybe a print fabric?
Maybe a purple fabric?
Maybe an orange fabric?
I am pretty sure, I do not like the white fabric.

Maybe I should put them right next to each other.

I like that too.  Time to pause and think...

With ten blocks, I have an extra one. I could seam rip it and make another row on the bottom.

I like the squares next to each other, but I will try some colorful print fabrics tomorrow or next Sunday, as I ran out of daylight and my fun sewing time.

I took an up close photo with my rose. Looks cool with the squares in the background.

I love sewing on Sunday afternoons --- Sunday Scraps!

Do you sometimes, just sew for fun???

Enjoy your day!
