Hodgepodge Patchwork Tuesday - Build With Your Imagination

Thinking and brainstorming, since Sunday at 12:01pm when the Project Quilting Challenge was posted. Yes, of course, I was working - quilting customer's quilts, but when my mind has been busy brainstorming. I am thinking about quilts and quilting ideas all the time.  I am building my imagination, one "quilt thought" at a time!
I am going to use the leftover fabric scraps from my Mix and Match Quilted Hot Pads from a couple weeks ago.  I added a couple more fabrics. Pressed more Heat'nBond Lite to the backs of the scraps.

I liked the design that I used for the hot pads.  Using a similar design will work perfectly for the Architectural Element Challenge for Project Quilting.  This is the Mix and Match Hot Pad from the post before Christmas.
I peeled off the paper and placed the fabric pieces on a long strip of yellow fabric. No need for seams, as it is a Quilter's Blenders backing fabric
Pressed them in place.

OK, now the fun begins for me . . . the quilting!  I have a cool quilting idea!  The Mix and Match Hot Pads were quilted on my regular sewing machine on each applique square or rectangle.  I am going to quilt this project on my long arm quilting machine with a little twist in the quilting design!
My idea for the Mix and Match loosely came from a mosaic piece I had seen years ago. What I liked about it was that it reminded me of little windows in a building, similar to the next photo.
On Pinterest, I found this photo of the houses of San Francisco.  I love the colors and textures in this photo.
Then I found a photo that reminded me of the photos my son took when he traveled to Spain last year, but this photo is of Cinque Terre, Italy.
The colors are incredible. Combining the designs, colors, and textures from both, gave me a great start to my quilted piece for Project Quilting.
I'll share the quilting, later in the week and the finished project before Sunday, when the project is due!
Enjoy your day!
Marcia

Neat idea with the colors - can't wait to see the quilting! I have to tell you, the photo of Spain is marvelous. I love the colors, but then I thought, "That certainly isn't America because there were certainly no 'obstructed view' ordinances in place when those homes were built." Lol. Weird how my mind works. Have a good week!
