Streaming Stars!

Testing my new camera has been delightful!  It takes some incredible photos.  I am learning about all the features and functions.

I thought it would be cool to take some close ups of the "Curly Hair" Quilting on my Streaming Stars Quilt in the full sun.
I am not sure if I have the settings correct, but it really made the quilting stand out.  I have also realized you can see so much more detail. Wow!
The camera even has a setting that takes better photos under the bright florescent lights in my quilting studio.
This is the back of the quilt.
Look how big the stitches looks!

and a full view.
It measures 12" by 46".
My friend, Tisha designed the pattern.  The pattern is called Stars and Shadows. She taught it as a Mini Quilt Class at Quilts by Barb's Quilt Retreat 2 years ago.  I completed the quilt top at the retreat and I finally quilted it in November. I named mine - Streaming Stars.
The sun wasn't shining on the wall hanging in next photos and it was hanging on the wall. It was a bright sunny day. What a difference in the way the quilting looks.
You can barely see the quilting from this angle.
I didn't crop out my kitchen in this photo, so you can see where I hung the wall hanging.
I entered the Streaming Stars Wall Hanging in the Weekly Themed Quilt Show at Quilting Gallery.

Hodgepodge Patchwork Tuesday --- "Hot Pad Blues"

Tonight I am sharing my little hot pads. I am entering these two hot pads in the Weekly Themed Contest at the Quilting Gallery this weekend.  I named them "Hot Pad Blues" for the contest.
I quilted one hot pad with wavy lines and the other one with ribbon quilting with a twist.
These Hot Pads were made from the scraps from my denim beaded table topper.  The table topper was made from a denim beaded shirt.  It was one of my "upcylcing" quilt projects.

I featured the denim beaded table topper in my November Tablescape.  I titled that post The Colors in My Kitchen.

I embroidery stitched the fringie binding onto the edges and left the raw edges on the back side of the hot pads.

I used a heat resistant batting in both hot pads.

The voting starts Friday, Nov. 25th at the Quilting Gallery

You can vote on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  I would love if you would vote for my "Hot Pad Blues". Thanks so much!

Usually you can vote for more than one quilt in the contest.  If you are entering one too, please leave a comment so I can vote for you too!
Update: you can vote for 4 quilts so let me know and I will vote for you too!

I am still working on the tutorial on how to make the zipper bags.  I hope to have it ready for next Tuesday.

Still time to enter the Big Birthday Quilting Giveaway!  Click on the link in the sidebar.

The Minutes for Me Linky Party starts tomorrow night at 6pm and will run for 11 days this time --- thru' the holiday weekend and all of next week.

Thursday's Thoughts -- Sharing Your Quilted Creations...

Quilt Blogging is all about the "sharing"!

Recently, I have been sharing my quilts in the Online Weekly Themed Quilt Show Contests at Quilting Gallery  What a great place to share your quilts and quilted projects... You can join in too and add a photo and description of your quilted projects.  Quilts are shared from all over the world!

In addition to that, I am sharing some of my posts with quilting, sewing, and craft blog linky parties.  There are several links in the side bar. --->

I share my quilted creations here... and on my second Quilting Blog.  On my second blog, I am in the process of adding photos of 40 years of my quilting and sewing projects.  I have a Picasa Photo Gallery and a Flicker Photo Gallery.  There are hundreds of photos on both.  I add photos of my customer's quilts and my personal quilts every week.  I share my blog posts and photos on my Crafty Sewing Facebook Page too.

Quilt blogging is all about the sharing...

This weekend I am sharing my "Come Fly With Me Tote Bag and Passport Bag".  I will share the direct link in the sidebar on Friday,(September 30th), when you can click on it, view all the beautiful quilts, and vote on your favorite ones. Link is in the sidebar and you can click here also.---> Enjoy the quilts!

I created "My Come Fly With Me Bag" for a quilt challenge at Project Quilting.  I based my Project on the art work of graphic artist MC Escher (Maurits Cornelis Escher).  I found the two pieces of artwork on Google images and decided I could place triangles in a similar pattern to create a cool design on the front of the quilted bag.  I used orange and purple for my complimentary colors. Then I decided I needed extra borders to make it larger and added the strips in a log cabin fashion creating a step like design element to the sides of the bag.

Then I repeated the V on the back of the bag - upside down.

My original plan was to make a small passport bag for myself, but I was having so much fun with the triangles, I decided I had to make a larger bag. So when I quilted the fabric to make a large bag and created a little flying geese design to make my small passport bag.

My Fly Bag is about 14" wide by  15" deep.  I used a poly batting to make it a little lighter, as I will pack it full for flying.  I don't have a passport --- yet, as that is another long story... I plan to eventually apply for one, but it seems I never do it!  Maybe next week!

Scroll down to the very bottom of my blog to view the quilted projects I have shared in the past few weeks on the Online Weekly Themed Quilt Contest.

I posted this today, so you can enter the contest too.  You can enter up until Midnight on Thursday.  The contest is every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hop over and check out what the themes are for each week.

Share your quilts!  That's what it is all about!

Enjoy your day!
