Prize Winners Announced for the November Project Quilting Challenge

I have been with sponsoring Prizes for Project Quilting since Season Two!  Wow!  How time flies when you are having fun creating!

Project Quilting will be starting Season Seven in January of 2016!  Quilters from all over the world participate in creating beautiful quilts.  Kim inspires them to create fabulous quilts. It is amazing!

During the past 8 months, for the Off Season Project Quilting Challenges, I sponsored with 2 prizes for 2 separate winners for every Challenge.

The first one is a “Quilting Gift Certificate” for $30.00 off the Quilting on a Baby size quilt or larger. (Baby, Lap, Twin. Full, Queen, or King) from me --- Marcia’s Crafty Sewing and Quilting.

The Gift Certificate is good for 4 months starting one month after the challenge ends.  Excluding the Month of December for using the gift certificate.

The quilting gift certificate is transferable to another person, so you can share it with a friend, if you’d like.

I offer an estimate based on the size of the winner's quilt top, quilting choices, thread choices, and batting and if they would like to purchase backing fabric from me. Winner can send backing fabric and batting with their quilt top, but I do have it available. This way the winner has a good estimate of the value of your quilting prize.

Hop over to Persimon Dreams to see all the winners for the November Project Quilting Challenge.

Here is the link to a Review Post of all the beautiful quilts that were created in 2015 over the past 7 months for the special series of challenges.

I have hankies from my great gran and both grans, but I couldn't cut into them. I would have to visit the local flea markets and pick up some for a project like this.

I do have several hankies! One is very special as it was my sister's who died when I was 17 years old. It was given to me the day I married and I tucked it inside my wedding dress. My mom also had many sweet hankies that I now have. All of them carry great memories and I'd love to make something with them!

I have a very special hankie that belonged to my grandmother who died when I was small. I would love to make a mug rug with it, but would probably hang it on the wall next to my sewing machine to have it in sight! Thanks for the chance to win!

Getting Up Close with Free Style Special Area Quilting

Sharon at Vrooman's Quilts  was one of the two $50.00 winners from the "My Favorite Block Quilt Along" that was hosted by Kim at Persimon DreamsErin was the other winner. I will share the photos of the quilting on Erin's quilt tomorrow. Erin posts at Fallergirl Blog.

Sharon chose brown prints with a few highlight colors for her quilt. A variety of light and medium and dark fabrics.  I chose a medium brown for the quilting thread.

When you make a Block of the Month or a Sampler Quilt there are so many different quilt blocks. The Free Style Special Area Quilting is a perfect choice.  This way you can highlight the special details of each block with a background of meandering. I chose meandering with a twist - meandering with leaves and swirls for the background filler.  I quilted swirls and wiggle lines for the special areas in each block.  The quilt is completed with a border of leaves all chained together to frame the quilt.

I took photos of every block.  The quilting gives this quilt a whimsical feeling!

Sharon will be posting about her quilt this week too!  Hop over and check it out ---  Vrooman's Quilts.

And tomorrow I will post Erin's quilt!

Enjoy your day!
