Scraps of Stuff to Share. . .

On July 1st, the Red, White, and Blue Blog Hop starts!

Jane's Fabric is hosting the Blog Hop for Sew We Quilt!  I will be sharing my post on July 1st!

I worked on my Red, White, and Blue Blocks for the Blog Hop while we were camping at the River.  We camp along the Mississippi River.  Sometimes, I talk my husband into bringing some of the tables outside, so I can enjoy the weather and the view of the river.

On Saturday July 21st, Sharon from Vrooman's Quilts is hosting a Crafter's Campfire Linky Party.

I going to link up on the 21st and join in on the fun! I will probably share some photos of my outside sewing room at the River.  Might share a camping recipe?  Hop over and check it out!

On July 30th, I am participating in the "Think Christmas" Blog Hop hosted by Lesley from the Cuddle Quilter for Sew We Quilt.

I will have to get busy digging through my Christmas fabrics.  I better not get rid of all of them on the facebook fabric destashing page!

"Love... love... love... all we need is love..."

My daughter is getting married!  We are so happy for them! It really makes me smile... Maybe, I will even get to share a photo or two of the happy couple!

I am making quilted table runners for the wedding reception.  They are simple and sweet. I'll share them with you after the wedding.

Enjoy your day!

The Box Sale Has Started on Facebook!

First I grouped the last of the fabrics from the Fabric Garage Sale into boxes.  Each box has about 10 yards to 18 yards of fabrics.  I put them in the Medium Flat Rate Boxes that ship for only $11.35 in the Continental US.  I stacked them all on the top bunk of the bunk bed in our office.
Update July 2012:  All of the fabrics on this post have SOLD.
The auction and bidding on all of the boxes ends on Monday, July 2nd at NOON CST.
All boxes are priced to sell!
Prices ranging from 80 cents a yard to $1.50 a yard.
You will find all of these boxes listed over on Facebook - Fabric Destashing Page!

This one had to be packed in a Large Flat Rate Box!
All packed and ready to mail out on Tuesday, July 3rd!

So hop over and check out the fabric bargains!
Facebook Fabric Destashing Page! When you get there ask for an invite to join the fun!
My facebook --- Marcia Wachuta - request to be my friend!

Help me destash and clear the top bunk! I need to sleep on it, in July when we have a house full of company for my daughter's wedding!  I can't call them company --- they will soon all be family! YES!

Enjoy your day!

Winners of the Zig Zag Quilt Challenge

There were three bloggers who entered Zig Zag Quilts in the Linky Party Zig Zag Quilt Challenge.

I stewed all day about doing the drawing.  Then I decided not to do a drawing, but instead just award all three of them the Free Quilting, Free Batting, and Free Thread on a Zig Zag Quilt.

The winners are Sharon, Vesuviusmama, and Kim!  I have contacted all three of them to let them know they have won Free Quilting, Free Batting, and Free Thread on a Zig Zag Quilt up to a baby quilt size (40" X 50") or 4 place mats, or a table runner or table topper.

You can click on their names and hop over check out their Zig Zag Quilts and congratulate them on winning!

Sharon and Kim quilted their Zig Zag Quilts for their entry in the challenge, but that is ok, because they can make another Zig Zag Quilt top to be quilted for Free!  The only thing the winner has to pay for is shipping. When I quilt the three winners quilts I will blog about it like I did for the Thread Painting Prize and the Scrappy Quilt Challenge.

I know some of you started a Zig Zag Quilt top, but didn't get to finish it. Life gets in the way of completing quilting projects sometimes.  That's OK. There will be more quilt challenges, but maybe in January!

Enjoy your day!

Hodgepodge Patchwork Tuesday - Thread Painting for Kris

Do you remember my post for the Table Topper Blog Hop in April?  I shared my Kissing Quilt. I hosted a giveaway for Free Quilting, Free Batting, and Free Thread. The winner could choose any kind of quilting from thread painting, to detailed quilting, to over all quilting for any small quilt top.
Kris won! She at Kris Loves Fabric Blog!
Kris chose Thread Painting for her quilting prize.  She sent me a McKenna Ryan four block wall hanging.
I started to pick out thread colors.
Here are a couple photos before I started quilting.
It is a raw edge applique' using a lite heat and bond to adhere it to the fabric.  Kris cut and pressed all the little pieces before she sent it to me.

I thread painted on each section of the petals of the flowers and the center of the flowers too.

Here's a really up close photo of the daisy.  Remember the stitches are really tiny.

I quilted the background of each block with a pebble or rock quilting.  Gives it a little dimension.
I used a green called trainer green. It is like an army green. It looks great on all 4 background fabrics. It's a color that kind of blends in.
I continued to change thread colors and stitch each section.
Here is a before and after on the leaves.

And then the other leaves...
Up close of the other flower.  The light yellow gives it highlights.
I used three colors on the rooster feathers.

The little yellow chick has tiny feathers.
I added a lite tan and a white thread to the eggs.
And here is the other little yellow chick!

I quilted tiny circles to add texture to the rooster's face.

I flipped it over, so you can see the backside of the wall hanging. Kris chose a perfect color for the backing fabric.
I took a photo before I sent this off in the mail to Kris.
Kris sent me a surprise gift!  Thanks Kris! I love bright fabrics!
I also included an estimate sheet, so Kris would know the value of her quilting prize. $85.10
Thread Painting - 20 X 20 wall hanging 400 square inches.
17 cents a square inch = $68.00 for the quilting.
PreQuilt Press  $4.50
Batting (80/20)  $3.75
Quilting Thread  $8.85
Total   $85.10
Congratulations Kris!  Hop over and congratulate her on winning!
YES I will be doing another Free Quilting, Free Batting, and Free Thread Giveaway.

If you had entered the Zig Zag Challenge (Link in sidebar), you would have had a chance to win.  That winner will be announced later today.

I am hosting another Giveaway on July 1st for the Red White and Blue Hop!  I am one of the first bloggers on the Blog Hop sharing my Red, White, and Blue Block!

This is the post about the winner and the quilting of the Scrappy Quilt Challenge from February.

Enjoy your day!
