Quilting in the Dark? YES!

Today on my video scope, I shared what a typical day is like in the life of a Longarm Quilter.

I shared why I was quilting in the dark. I did not loose power and we do not have an electrical problem. 

I turned off the lights in my quilting room and quilted without the bright lights on. There was some natural light coming in the window and the lights were on in the other room. 

I was quilting a dark quilt with dark quilting thread and I could not see my stitching.  I was quilting it twice as that is what you do when you Ribbon Quilt a quilt. I needed to see my first stitching lines so that I could follow them to create the look of ribbons.

 See how hard it is to see the quilting with the lights on!

I love the "look" of Ribbon Quilting!

I also shared on the video scope what I work on when I am not quilting - A customer's custom order. You can click to view the video HERE. 

I will share about the Handkie Mug Rugs on a post sometime in the next week or so, when I am further along with them. I selected the fabrics today to coordinate with each handkie. Here is one of them. 

They will look similar to this mug rug.

I have started sharing 10 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursday on Periscope Videos ( @craftysewing ) and then I am sharing  blog posts of the up close photos of what I shared on the videos.
  
I recently, shared a step by step, raw edge applique, thread painted quilted project on a video, But I have not found the time to share the up close photos on my blog. I promise that will be one or a couple of the posts about "The Girls"! I finally learned how to make a PDF so I can share the pieces for "The Girls" so I can share it as a pattern.

That is why I am going to update older posts --- especially the ones with the photo tutorials on all the quilts and quilted items I have created! I started my blog back in 2008. I have come a long way from my  first post! It will be a process that I am very excited about doing and improving my blog!

What Color is Your Snowball?

If a snowball had color, mine would be BLUE! 

I created a Layered Snowball for the Focus Through the Prism Challenge this month.  We were to be inspired by the Snowball Quilt Block.

I named it: "My Blue Snowball"

Flipping it over to see the backside.

I really had fun with the quilting on this one!

Wiggle Lines in a Spiral,
Wavy Lines,
Horizontal Wiggle Lines, 
and Wavy and Wiggle Lines combined!

I stitched in my name and the year.
