A new question:

How wide is Extra Wide Fabric?  Some of the fabrics are 108" wide and some are 120" wide.  Each fabric is listed on the website with it's size.

You can order a sample pack of 30 - 5 inch squares of the Extra Wide Fabrics.  There is a link in the sidebar ---> 

What size should my quilt backing fabric measure if you are quilting my quilt?  It should be 6 inches bigger on all 4 sides.  That's 12 inches longer and 12 inches wider.

A Weekend Post - Quilts at Organic Valley

The other day I posted photos of my quilts that were at the Organic Valley Quilt and Rug Show on my Crafty Sewing and Quilting in My Garden, Kitchen, and Home Blog. Friends and family suggested that I post them here too!  So here they are. In March I was invited to bring three quilts for their display!  The quilts were in their show from April through June 18th.  

I used my Easy to Sew Quilt Pattern to create the first quilt for a fabric challenge for Quilts by Barb's Retreat last year.  This quilt was also featured in the Ribbon Quilting video - click here for the post about it and here for post with up close photos of it and here for the link to the video.

My Red, Yellow, and Blue Baby Quilt was created for a challenge for Project Quilting.  I posted about the whole process of construction from choosing the colors, through the sewing, and the quilting .  Click here to see those posts.

This next quilt was made using a variation of the Easy to Sew Quilt Pattern.  I used four extra wide backing fabrics to construct this quilt. The floral black and white prints, the solid black, and the solid white.  Click here for the post about using extra wide fabrics for piecing.

Spinning Spiral Flower Bag and Quilted Reflection Bag - Project Quilting - Challenge Six

I made one large bag and one small bag.  I did the mosaic so you can see both sides of the bag.  Top Left - close up of the large spinning spiral flower.  Bottom Left  - one side of the bag with the three flowers and the quilted reflection bag.  Top Right - the large spinning flower and the refection bag.  Bottom Right  - view of the bottom of the bag, so you can see the connection of the stem from one side of the bag to the other side of the bag.

For challenge six, I used two large scale print fabrics (more than 1/8th of a yard of each one) and some stripes and plaids.  I cut them all up into skinny strips and made the four spinning spiral flowers - a large flower on one side and three smaller flowers on the other side.      So I took a large scale print fabric and cut it up and then turned it back into a large scale print fabric by raw edge appliqueing the flowers on the yellow fabric. Then I quilted it with swirls and wiggle lines and constructed a HUGE Bag from the quilted fabric. I also quilted some extra yellow fabric and made a "quilted reflection" of the large bag.  

I put two regular size pillows in the bag and took the photos and then I took a picture with only one pillow in the bag.  It is a HUGE Bag!

There are no raw edges on the inside of the bag.  I bound the seams with the yellow binding too.
