Quilting with Paper during the Storms

What do you do when it storms?  

I do not run my quilting machine or my sewing machine.  

I do not iron.

I do not blog.

I quilt with paper!

I am not a scrapbooker, but I bought a bunch of cool scrapbook/greeting card stock from a friend who was destashing her supply of cardstock. It looks like fabric to me!  Everything looks like fabric or a quilt to me.

 Some of the pieces, I cut a little smaller than the card and I adhere it with double stick tape.

Some I cut into squares and rectangles.  Three pieces make a nice balance, but four can work too.

I sign my name and the year on the back of the cards with a fine point sharpie marker.

At the end of the storm, I packaged them up and mailed them to my Mom.  She loves when I make greeting cards and share them with her.  She especially loves the ones I stitch fabric pieces unto the card stock.  I recently created a tutorial for making the fabric stitched greeting cards and shared it on Craftsy.com.  Here is the link to my Craftsy Store.

Also when the storm is over, I am back to quilting.

Just in Time for Christmas ...

 The first one is a photo of a Split Rail Variation Quilt. It is a bonus quilt that was made from cutaways of a larger Flying Geese Quilt. It was machine pieced by Linda Halpin. www.lindahalpin.com. I custom free style quilted the quilt and it was featured in Quiltmaker Magazine.

The second one is a photo of a Log Cabin Free For All Quilt. It uses a 1 inch half square triangle (a cutaway unit) as the block centers. It was machine pieced by Linda Halpin. www.lindahalpin.com and I free style quilted this quilt for Linda. 

The Princess Feather Applique is a half scale replica of a circa 1850 antique quilt. Hand Appliqued by Linda Halpin.

The fourth photo quilt note card is a Barn Raising Log Cabin Quilt. Linda started making it as a way to use some of her cutaway units as the centers of the log cabin blocks. Machine Pieced by Linda Halpin. Beautifully machine quilted by Penny Gerds.
