Sprouts Quilt

I titled my quilt "Sprouts"! I decided that was very appropriate since it was made from the scraps of a large quilt.

I took it outside this morning for some daylight photos. It was was overcast and sprinkling a bit.

Even though it was cloudy, they turned out pretty good.

Took at few photos in my favorite spot from the upper deck looking down. It made a perfect background, as we haven't shoveled it yet.

I stitched the binding on late last night.

I stitch it to the back side of the quilt and wrap it around to the front and then embroidery stitch it on.

Up close of the embroidery stitching.

When I quilted it, I stitched in my name and year and PQS6Ch3 in the bottom right hand corner.

Even took a photo with more snow on the quilt!

I am linking this up over a Persimons Dreams - Project Quilting.

Snow on My Quilt Top!

Yes that is snow on my quilt top!

Yes it needs a good pressing, but I wanted to get some photos in the snow while the lighting was perfect.

The snow was perfect in my brother's backyard.

Don't try to figure out the pattern.  I created with the orphan blocks cut into 4 pieces and 2 inch squares and 2 1/2 inch squares. I tried to keep a little bit of a pattern to my rectangular blocks, but I had less of some and more of others. I just kept sewing them together.  One of the  rectangular blocks was stitched together upside down and I left it that way.  Maybe it adds a little interest! LOL

Click here for the link to post on how I made the rectangular quilt blocks.

Here is where I set up to sew in the evenings, this week, while I was visiting family.  Toby loved the view out the patio doors as he perched on the back of the sofa.  Thanks Mark and Julie for putting up with my sewing mess this week.

I am thinking of adding a border on Saturday.  Then I need to quilt it and bind it and get it completed by Sunday at noon to enter it in the Project Quilting Challenge.

Wish me luck!

Oh and I need a name for it too! Any ideas?

I Love This Week's Project Quilting Challenge!

This Week's Quilt Challenge is named "UFO s and Orphan Block Challenge" - Click to check out the details

I started with some orphan blocks from my daughter's Squary Quilt.

Jewel's Squary Quilt
And I have tons of scraps leftover from her quilt that I cut into 2" and 2 1/2" squares.

Not all green scraps. A few have purple flowers and a few are blue and some pink too.

I had to figure out how I wanted to cut up the Orphan Blocks.  The 2" squares stitched into a 4 patch measures 3 1/2" square.  The 2 1/2" squares stitched into a 4 patch measures 4 1/2" square.

I decided to cut it at 3 1/2" and add a 1 1/2 inch strip to the top side.

Then I decided to add a strip the next side, which then measures 4 1/2" square.

But I needed it to measure 1" larger to fit in with the other blocks. See the next couple of photos.

This will be my quilt block - a rectangular block.

It measures 9 1/4" by 7 1/4".

Now I need to get busy and stitch all of the squares into 4 patch blocks.

Cool!  This is going to be fun!

If you have Orphan Blocks or UFO and you want to join in the fun check out the Project Quilting Challenge.

I love being inspired by the challenges!
