I Completed my GREEN and White Quilt Top!

So pleased with my Green and White Quilt!  My daughter and her husband will love it!

I used some vintage flower sack fabric with some reproduction fabrics.

I selected a few tiny prints from the 70's.

For a little added interest I accidentally threw in a tiny purple flower print. It was the evening when I was pulling fabrics for the quilt. I just was grabbing and washing and pressing.  Sweet --- I ended up with a little purple in the quilt too!

I topped it off with checks and prints from 2013.

A perfect mixture of greens with a few touches of blue (and purple) prints to make me happy!

As I completed the blocks I laid them out on a bed sheet on the floor to get a nice balance of lights and darks and colors.

Then I stitched the rows together.

I love the mixture of colors and prints.

It's a perfect blend with the greens!

I laid the finished quilt top on my guest bed. It is a queen size bed.  I really wanted it larger, so I am going to make two more rows for the width and one more for the length.
I have plenty of time, as I am not quilting it til after the holidays.

Enjoy your day!

Show and Tell Saturday --- Sharing My Barn Quilt

I shared my Barn Quilt at the Quilting Gallery Show and Tell this weekend for the Up Close Quilting.

I created my Barn Quilt for a Project Quilting Challenge in 2012.  I used the raw edge applique' method for the pieces and then thread painted the whole quilt with lots of textures and details.

I was inspired by four photos of barns and windmills.

I posted construction process of how I created it. Click Here.  I share how I draw the lines so I know where to stitch -Thread Paint.

It's not a pattern, but I show you how I created and cut every piece for the quilt.  You can do it too!

And Click Here to see the photos "up close" of my completed barn quilt.

When you hop over to see all the quilts you are asked to vote on your favorites.

I Love Making Blue Quilts, But.....

I am going to make a quilt with greens. Yes I said greens! I am going to Quilts by Barb's Quilt Retreat in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. This is the 11th year she has hosted quilt retreats.  I have attended every year! Last year, we all made the Celebration Quilts. Click here for the link to My Celebration Quilt.

This year, we are all going to make "Squarey Quilts".  I am going to make a quilt for daughter and her husband.  My daughter loves greens. (I wish she loved blues.) I do have all colors in my fabric stash but mostly blues!

I folded them and laid them out on the table. Yes you can see a few blues in the there.  I may have to add a few blues just for me, since I am making it for her.

She wants a quilt similar to this one and they added blues too!

I washed, starched, and pressed my green fabrics.  I neatly folded them and layered them into a plastic container. They are already to go to the retreat with me!

I will not use all of them, but this way I will have choices. I had a lot more greens that I thought.

The plastic container wasn't full, so I added a few more blues, just in case I want to make a few blocks for another quilt in the blues.

I can't wait to start cutting and sewing!

Have a great weekend!
